Word On Work - WEEK 6
I often like to start my classes with a quote or two to get us thinking. The first quote that I shared today was this one from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.... We discussed this for a few minutes and the general agreement was that this quote was about building yourself one step at a time and not giving up. It doesn't matter how far you come how quickly, it is about making sure that you keep moving forward and taking action towards being a better version of you.
Question to answer in your book: What do you think of when you read and think about these quotes?

Evernote is a great tool for students. No matter what you are studying, Evernote makes it easy to organise all your coursework and assignments so you can quickly find what you're looking for.
You can: 1. Organise class notes into notebooks. Use Evernote as a digital binder where you can save all your coursework, school info, schedules, and anything else you collect throughout the school term. Start by creating a notebook structure to keep similar notes together. Create separate notebooks for each class. Keep notes from all your class lectures, labs, and group projects in the same notebook. Here you can have a notebook that is your 'portfolio', where you can save your resume and all the other documents that you may need like a copy of your birth certificate etc. 2. Scan and search handwritten notes. Use the Evernote camera on your phone to snap photos of whiteboards and handouts. Evernote runs images through a character-recognition process that makes handwritten words searchable. Use the Evernote camera on your mobile device to scan course outlines, handouts, and other paper documents as PDFs. On your computer, save PDFs and Office docs into Evernote right alongside related class notes. 3. Record classes and workshops or discussions with teacher. When your teacher is giving you feedback or instructions or there is an important discussion in class, recording it to listen to later can really be beneficial. 4. Draw and write on PDFs Evernote gives you simple tools to add notes to PDFs. Highlight important sections of your syllabus and assignment sheets. Add text, arrows, and other shapes to draw attention to what’s important in your reading. 5. Manage assignments with to-do lists and reminders Class assignments, project deliverables, study group meeting times—jot them all down in Evernote. Access your lists on or off campus from any device where you have Evernote. 6. Keep events and all your info in one place Save entire web pages into Evernote using Web Clipper. Keep screenshots, images, and important information from your Daymap or other places in Evernote, alongside other related notes. Save online info, class info, and club info as notes. Keep event calendars, library hours, weekly dining menus, and emergency evacuation locations in Evernote. Enable offline notebook access so notes you reference regularly are available to you even when you're without an internet connection. 7. Never forget a number You’re asked to remember a lot of random numbers as students, especially at the beginning of the school year. It helps to keep your student ID#, mailbox combination, and even friends’ phone numbers in Evernote, at least until they’re safely burned into your memory. 8.Window shopping Students love to buy new things. Unfortunately, they usually don’t have very much money. Next time you see a pair of jeans tempting you from outside your price range, take some pictures of the display rack and the tag and store them in Evernote. You’ll have no trouble finding the items again once you coerced some money out of your parents. Click on the above link to create your very own Evernote account and get started
