TENACITY - WEEK 4
Gratitude
Activity: Finding Gratitude
- So let’s look at some ways to build gratitude. As a starting point, think back to the last 24 hours – what are you grateful for?
- Now think about why did it go well – it might have been an accident or a coincidence but a lot of the time it’s because of something else. For example, I’m grateful for receiving a cream cake yesterday. Why did that happen? Because my husband wanted to reward me for the work I was putting in.
- The final thing to ask your self is how did you or others in your life contribute to the good thing that happened? So for me it’s that I took the time to help someone who needed it.
- And that’s all there is to the skill! It seems really simple to practice gratitude but it is a bit more work than just thinking about things that are good in your life. It’s reflecting on those good things and acknowledging what you and others have done to make it happen that brings on those positive emotions.
- How does it feel to practice gratitude? How does it feel to hear about the things that other people are grateful for?
- There is no magic way to practice gratitude, it’s all about finding a way to do it that works for you, kind of like mindfulness. Your challenge for this week is to keep a gratitude journal until our next session, but you might find that there are other ways that practising gratitude works better for you – like writing a gratitude letter to someone, or uploading Instagram photos of things you’re grateful for. You might like to look up project 365 if you’re interested in more image-based ways to practice gratitude.
- For some of you, this won’t be the way you keep practising gratitude, but it’s a good way to get you in the habit of finding good things and reflecting on them. You don’t have to write an essay, even if you just write a couple of words for each question, or draw something if you’d prefer not to write, you’ll get the benefit from the skill.
- But the key for this, like anything else, is to find a way that works for you and do it on a regular basis, like any of the skills in this program.
- I don’t want this to be something that stresses you out or is yet another chore you have to do, but I do challenge you, just for the next week, to try to find three things every day and keep a journal about those things. There’s a Gratitude Journal in the back of your participant guide that you can use for this.
The Steps to ensuring you have a growth mindset....
1. DON'T SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST INFORMATION: GET THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE
Look for the best information available on the topic you are learning about. Then focus on learning this information only. The most critical skill that we can hone is how to find good information. Learning this research skill will benefit you in all areas of your life. We are talking about the right mindset here; part of it is not to get sucked into the mediocre area. You want to align yourself with the best out there.

2. ROLE MODEL THE BEST PEOPLE:
Similar to our first key, we must look for the best people that have the results that we are after and try to model what they did right. We want to adopt their kind of thinking and mindset. One you have understood the fundamental strategies they use, then and only then keep and add what you think is right for you. That is the way you can actually mould, improve and personalise their mindset strategies to fit perfectly for you. It’s never copying, it’s taking what works for you by getting inspiration and quality information more quickly.
You may not have direct access to the best minds in the area you want results in, however you can get plenty of information about how their process and strategies, their tips and the low down on what they did. For instance, when I wanted to start my own business I role-modeled to a certain degree: Louise Hays, Stephen Covey, Richard Branson, Anthony Robbins andMichael Jordan. These were all people that had a result driven philosophy and i wanted what they had. I read their biographies, watched documentaries and adopted some of their philosophies. Getting quality information on people who inspire you is a great way to start.
3. REALLY EXAMINE AND DIG DEEP AROUND YOUR CURRENT BELIEFS
Examine your mindset by looking at your current beliefs. Are these beliefs supporting or limiting you? You have to identify those possible blocks and turn them around. Because whether you aware of limiting beliefs or not, they are working in your subconscious mind.
To uncover your beliefs follow this short process.
4. SHAPE YOUR MINDSET WITH POSITIVE VISIONS AND GOALS
A vision board is a great way to keep in front of you and see where you want to head. it keeps you focused on what you want and can really support a positive mindset. Having a strong vision around describing your end result clearly in your minds eye, will create a strong pull towards this desired outcome. Once this is done, then go ahead and break your vision down into smaller actionable goals. It will shape your mindset to mirror your vision.
Learn and adapt from your own experience and always try to look deeper for the real reasons why you get the results you are getting.
5. FIND YOUR SONG (YOUR UNIQUE STYLE)
As individuals, we really shine when we find out true passion and purpose. Finding this can be a journey in and of itself, but when you truly know your song, your message, your calling if you like, then you have the key to your personal fulfillment.
To help you discover this, answer these 4 question:
Your song or your voice is where you express 100% authentically and honours your soul. It is the unique thing that you can add to the world, because you are who you are. Keep an open and flexible mindset. Don’t judge too soon. It gives you something unique and helps you to build integrity.

To uncover your beliefs follow this short process.
- Write down three goals you have... Go on, any three goals.
- Beside each goal, write down what is stopping you from getting there. This will illustrate to you where your limiting beliefs are coming from.
- Write down the steps for overcoming those limiting beliefs and turn the obstacle in to a positive.... you can then use affirmations to help cement this. (google affirmations for more info on this) I will be writing about affirmations in a later week.

To help you discover this, answer these 4 question:
- What are you good at? (this is turning your mind on to this challenge)
- What do you love doing? (this brings your heart onboard)
- What need can you serve? (tune in to your physical being)
- And finally, what is life asking of you? What gives your life meaning and purpose? What do you feel like you should be doing? In short, what is your conscience directing you to do? (this taps into your spirit)
